Live Report: Pioneering Business and Discipleship!

Introduction—

There seems to be a thick aroma of excitement and anticipation today as multiple college students and directors gather into a classroom to partake in a unique seminar with Mr. Jeffery Price, a knowledgeable business man and follower of Jesus.

We’ll be following Mr. Price who has an unique background with financial planning, and having worked with Merrill Lynch since 1995 he has gained traction and recognition in the industry. He too has been a core member of Valley Creek Church and was just recently welcomed onto the leadership team as an Elder.

Mr. Price will be speaking on the journey that combining business and ministry was, as well as how business can be used as a means for discipleship and personal growth with Jesus. As we follow his presentation expect to gain insight on what dreaming for your future looks like and what some practical skills to create a plan for your future vision will be.

Now who’s ready to tune in?

Opening Remarks—

A the very start, as Mr. Price takes the platform many college students and directors rise to welcome him. He then settles into place and begins sharing his Tory of how God has shaped him and what his journey in the world of finances/business has looked like.

Just now, towards the end of Mr. Price’s opening story encouraged all others that they too have a story and posed the question “what’s yours?”

Key Foundations of His Work—

At about 30 minutes in, the atmosphere shifts from contemplative glory to inspiration as Mr. Price walks the audience through the foundational pursuit of his work. He shares how his mission in this current position he holds is to “pass on wealth in a healthy way to the next generation.”

Mr. Price then precisely identifies three ways in which this is done, he uses asset management, wealth management, and pastoral care for clients.

It seems Mr. Price noticed the intrigue of the audience so he leaned into the pastoring and discipleship aspect of his work. He mentioned how in any relationship, when seeking growth on any level we must sometimes wait. He encouraged the audience that “today might not be the day, but tomorrow might be.”

Questions and Answers—

We’ve just hit an hour in and suddenly Mr. Price chimes in with a joke and says “I’ve done too much talking already, who has questions?” Immediately a student at Valley Creek College jumped up and asked about how he has tied his church’s sermons into his company’s culture.

With great enthusiasm Mr. Price acknowledged how the collection of talks over maturity has shown him the revelation that continual surrender and vulnerability is how his business culture thrives.

He then challenges the audience with yet again, another question, asking us, “do you trust God? Are you willing to surrender?”

Jesus Must Be Before the Task—

The 10 minute round of questions closes, and Mr. Price makes a transition to speaking on the spiritual reality of pursuing a calling. His direct charge to the audience was that “the depth of our prayer-life will determine our future.”

This sentence echoed in the room for a second as students and other attendees scribbled the words in their journals and murmured to one another.

His next point was that there must be plans we can implement, saying that “hope is not a strategy.” This one-liner also rang in the ears of the audience.

Mr. Price concluded this segment of seminar by giving one last piece of wisdom from his own story, telling the audience to “take care of the current dream God has given [you].” His point behind this was that when we walk with God we walk in rest.

To Pioneer You Must Lead—

Towards the end of the event, as Mr. Price concluded his presentation, there was a recurring theme of pioneering, and one thing he mentioned about it was that when pioneering “you must call out dysfunction early on to keep the vision unified.” He said this in response to leading a team and creating relationships for the future.

Closing Remarks—

At the finale, Mr. Price wrapped up his program and he mentioned how we are to use whatever field we’re given access to to invest into acorns and watch as they develop into samplings, and then oaks.

This seemed to strike the audience, the room flipped and the atmosphere became that of courageousness!

In addition to that statement he said “there is another out there who needs Jesus.”

So, are you willing to PIONEER THE JOURNEY for someone else?
